Welcome to the online home of the Pagliassotti Lab.
I have been interested in basic liver physiology for many years, and in particular with two related questions: how does the liver adapt to changes in dietary nutrients and how do dietary and endogenous nutrients contribute to liver impairments associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes. These two broad questions form the basis for our work which focuses on
- nutrient-mediated regulation of insulin action in the liver
- the role of lipid composition in liver disease progression
- the role of the endoplasmic reticulum as a nutrient sensing organelle in the liver
- application of novel plant-based therapies in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
You will find more information on these topics and more in our research and current projects pages. From myself and the lab, welcome to the site, and thank you for visiting!
